Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Dr Pierre Dentistry ("the practice", "we", "us") is the dental practice of Dr Pierre Khazin (Dentist), located at Suite 177, 161 New South Head Road, Edgecliff NSW 2027. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our patients and of visitors to our website, drpierre.com.au.
As a provider of health services, we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles, and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW). Health information is treated as sensitive information and receives a higher level of protection. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is held and disclosed, and how you can access it, correct it, or make a complaint.
Depending on your relationship with the practice, we may collect:
Wherever practical, we collect information directly from you — in person at the practice, over the phone, by email, or through our website's enquiry and online booking forms. With your consent, we may also receive information from others involved in your care, such as a referring practitioner, a specialist, or your health fund. Some website information is collected automatically through cookies, as described below.
We collect and use personal information to provide safe and appropriate dental care; to manage appointments and send reminders; to process payments and claims; to respond to your enquiries; to run and improve the practice; and to meet our legal and professional obligations, including record-keeping requirements and mandatory notifications. With your consent, or where otherwise permitted by law, we may also contact you about our services. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time.
Online appointment bookings are made through Praktika, the Australian practice management system we use to manage appointments and clinical records. When you book online, you are taken to Praktika's secure booking page and the details you enter form part of your patient record.
Enquiry forms on our website are provided by HubSpot. Information you submit through these forms is stored on HubSpot's systems, which may be located overseas, including in the United States, and is used by us to respond to your enquiry.
Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and advertising tools from Google (Google Ads) and Meta (the Meta Pixel, used for Facebook and Instagram) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to show our ads to people who have previously visited our website.
These tools use cookies and similar identifiers to collect technical information such as the pages you visit, your device and browser type, and approximate location. This information is handled in accordance with Google's and Meta's own privacy policies and may be stored overseas, including in the United States.
These tools do not have access to your patient records. Your clinical, dental, and medical records are never shared with analytics or advertising platforms.
Enquiry forms and ad matching. Our enquiry forms include a consent checkbox. If you tick it, a limited set of your contact details — your email address, phone number, and name — is shared with Meta so that we can measure whether our advertising led to your enquiry and reach people with similar interests. Your browser converts these details into a scrambled (hashed) form before they are sent, and Meta uses them only to match your enquiry to an account. We do not send the treatment you enquired about, your appointment details, or any part of your dental or medical history. If you do not tick the box, none of your contact details are shared and we record only that an enquiry was made. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details below, and we will ask Meta to delete the information.
You can manage or opt out of these technologies through your browser's cookie settings, Google's Ads Settings and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and the ad preferences settings in your Facebook or Instagram account. Opting out does not prevent ads from being shown to you; it makes them less likely to be based on your browsing.
We share personal information only as needed for your care and the operation of the practice. This may include: other practitioners involved in your treatment, such as specialists, dental laboratories, and radiology providers; Medicare and your health fund, to process claims with your authority; and service providers who support the practice, such as our practice management, IT, and payment systems, who are bound by confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law — for example, in response to a court order, to AHPRA, or under public health and mandatory reporting requirements. Where you have given consent, a limited set of enquiry contact details is also shared with Meta as described under "Cookies, analytics and advertising" above. We do not sell personal information.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, including secure systems, access controls, and staff confidentiality obligations. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information at all times.
In line with NSW requirements, we retain the dental records of adult patients for at least seven years after the last treatment, and the records of patients who were under 18 until they have turned 25. Records no longer required are securely destroyed or de-identified.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Requests can be made using the contact details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, though a reasonable fee may apply to cover the cost of providing copies of records. If we are unable to grant access, we will explain why in writing.
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below — we take privacy concerns seriously and will investigate and respond, usually within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992). For health information in NSW, you can also contact the NSW Information and Privacy Commission (ipc.nsw.gov.au, 1800 472 679).
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when our systems or legal obligations change. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date of the last update shown above.
